Start This 3 months Before Conception

Hold Up...Wait A Minute...Let’s Rewind...

I began writing about vitamins, but failed to mention the first vitamin you need to consider taking at least three months before you begin trying to conceive.

A good quality prenatal vitamin is important for women and men. Choose a supplement meant to be taken three times a day with a meal.  Some will say that you should be eating your vitamins via food.  Yes, that is true!  However, you may not get all the nutrients you need on a daily basis with food.

A multivitamin decreases

the risk of ovulatory infertility,

immune system interference with fertility,

Inflammation

birth defects

A multivitamin increases:

pregnancy rates

antioxidants

protection of sperm and eggs from genetic damage

the support for proper implantation and embryo development

Sperm count, quality, and motility

The prenatal vitamin should include: Vitamin A, B1, B2, B5, B6, Folic Acid (B9 or folate), B12, C, D, E, Calcium, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Selenium and Zinc.

Folic Acid is super important and is in all prenatal vitamins.  However, you may need a higher dose depending upon your stage.  Again, I will write about folic acid as a separate piece because there is too much information to unpack here.

Be Well! Carry On, Goddesses!
