The Wonder Vitamin for Infertility and Covid-19
Whoa! Did I just write that you can help two things with one vitamin. Oh yes I did!
I first learned the miracle of vitamin D when I was sitting in the pediatricians office and he asked about the kids supplements. During the colder, sunless months, among many other supplements, he recommended vitamin D to maintain healthy children. So it wasn’t surprising to me when Vitamin D was recommended to help maintain a healthy immune system for Covid-19.
If you are having trouble conceiving or have had one or miscarriages, I would recommend having your Vitamin D level checked. You must ask for this test by being your best advocate because doctors will not automatically test for it. (No surprise there!) Low levels of Vitamin D have been shown to contribute to a range of diseases: diabetes, obesity, MS, and arthritis.
An optimal level is at least 40 ng/mL.
Women with sufficient Vitamin D levels are more likely:
to become pregnant,
to give birth,
to have a higher fertilization and implantation rate.
Women with sufficient Vitamin D levels are less likely:
to have a miscarriage,
to have immune abnormalities,
to develop endometriosis and PCOS.
To this day, I take Vitamin D almost year round except for summer. The vitamin supplement that I use is an oil-based drop, but it also comes in an oil-based soft gel capsule. It is good to take it with a meal containing fat for the best absorption.
