A Breath Of Fresh Air

When my iwatch told me to breath the other day….I did! And wow did it make a huge difference with my mood and state of mind.  It was a deep cleansing breath and I needed it!


You know the kind:


Like when you first step outside on a cold day and you breathe in crisp air.  


Or stepping off a plane into a warmer environment than you came from and you breathe in the thicker, warmer air.


Or the ones you take in any yoga class.  Those are always the best.  For me, they are always longer and deeper when I am in that space.



Breathing takes practice.  We forget to breathe.  We forget to breathe deeply.  When we are in the depths of infertility, we definitely forget to breathe.  That is why a Yoga For Fertility class works so well.  It helped me to breathe again and move my body in ways that I was not used to.


The Inhale is the same as the Exhale.  You breathe equally in as you breathe equally out.  An app, iwatch or counting to yourself is great for this.  You can use any count depending upon your lung capacity and if you count really fast or slow.


To help you get started:

Find a comfortable seat.

Inhale for a count of 5 - filling your lungs completely.

Hold your breath for 3 seconds.

Exhale for a count of 5 - emptying your lungs completely.

Hold your breath for 3 seconds.

Start again for as many repetitions as you prefer.
