WTPH? Phthalates - A Fragrance Free Home (Part Two)
Our sense of smell has been modified significantly over the last few years. We are led to believe that every corner of our house needs to smell fresh with chemicals that are hurting us.
In addition to the fertility health benefits I received, my sense of smell has become more attuned after eliminating fragranced products. When I walk into homes now, I can smell chemicals immediately and now I get nauseous from them. There is one house in particular…her laundry is in the same room as her pantry. I can taste the fabric softener in some of her foods, like crackers, that are exposed through various packaging. Sometimes, when I walk my dog throughout the neighborhood, I can smell fabric softener from a very far away. Imagine what it is doing to the people inside the home. After you eliminate fragrances, you will be able to tell the difference as well.
High level of Phthalates (THAL-lates) have been shown to harm female fertility by:
compromising egg development,
increasing the risk of endometriosis,
making it more likely to miscarry.
Male sperm quality is affected by damaging the sperm.
Phthalates (THAL-lates) are used in plastic, vinyl, cleaning products, nail polish and fragrances. I could not write about all of the changes I made in one blog. The list consists of many things and can be very overwhelming. So much so that, after writing these latest blog posts, I have decided to break each one down further throughout the next few weeks on my Instagram account.
Strive for a Fragrance Free Home by eliminating the following:
